Parent Association

Central to our community is our Parent Association (PA). The PA is a cornerstone in welcoming all families to our school and creating opportunities for parents, students, and faculty to come together as a community. The PA makes numerous contributions to the school, including:

  • Sponsoring school- and community-wide events such as Book Fairs, festivals and all-school gatherings
  • Arranging for parent education evenings with guest lecturers
  • Supporting families in times of need by arranging for meals, carpools and playdates
  • Planning holiday celebrations in conjunction with faculty
  • Providing teacher snacks
  • Coordinating eScrip and other fundraising programs

  • Announcing Our Or Hadash Winner - Louella Neyman!

    Posted April 22, 2013

We are delighted to announce that Louella Neyman is the recipient of our Or Hadash (New Light) award on the San Francisco campus this year - Cheryl Lazar is the recipient of the award in Marin. This Parent Association award is presented annually by the BHDS Board of Trustees to outstanding parents on each campus who give freely and generously of their time to the school community and serve as models of volunteerism. Louella couldn't embody those values any better and we are delighted to honor her now and officially at the upcoming Annual Board and Community Celebration on June 4, 2013!

Louella has been an active member of our community since 2008, and a dedicated, passionate and tireless volunteer. She has been a member of the PA Executive Committee for three years, served as a room parent, co-chaired our most recent Sukkot Dinner and has been a member of almost all school committees including our Admissions and Marketing committee, our Annual Fund committee and the past two gala committees. She is present at nearly all events, making sure that volunteer parents have a point of contact.

"Louella volunteers as much as she can, and gives as much of herself as possible to our school," said Larisa Rapoport, PA President. "She also recruits others to volunteer, and always does it with a friendly smile. Louella truly cherishes and practices our schools' values: integrity, kindness and service, and truly deserves the Or Hadash award. She is that light (or in Hebrew), literally speaking, that people are drawn to," Larisa added.
