Second Graders Tour Galaxy Desserts
Posted May 17, 2012
What do hairnets, croissants and giant refrigeration units all have in common? That’s simple! They are all at Galaxy Desserts in Richmond, California. Our very own second graders traveled there on Wednesday to tour the bakery and to make (and sample, of course!) their own croissants! The class has been studying “Careers,” and this field trip emphasized all of the kinds of skills and training needed to run such a huge bakery.
The students and their chaperones witnessed teamwork in the baking, cutting, and shipping departments. They learned of a myriad of careers such as C.E.O, bakers, office workers, and shippers, and they saw wonderful, large-scale tools like enormous quantities of chocolate and huge mixing bowls and whisks.
The biggest takeaway message for our second graders was this: get a good education, don’t be afraid to take a risk, and mostly, love what your do!
We certainly saw living examples of these lessons on our tour of Galaxy Desserts.
