Birthday Book Program

The Birthday Book Program is a wonderful way to celebrate your child's birthday through a book donation to the library! If you choose to make a small donation ($18 per book), your child comes to the library and chooses a title to add to our collection. A book plate with your child's name is placed in the book, and your child is the first one to check out this title. This program enables our library to receive more than 200 titles per year, and we gratefully acknowledge the generosity of our community.

The Brandeis Hillel Day School library serves the needs of our K-8 students, faculty and families. Through stories and book talks, the library fosters an appreciation of traditional and current literature as students are exposed to the best of fiction and non-fiction books.

Students in kindergarten through fifth grade have weekly scheduled library time for structured library lessons as well as free reading opportunities. Older students use the library for research, incorporating reference sources, databases and the Internet.

We have a collection of over 14,000 titles and are continually adding new resources to enhance the library shelves and our school community.  We subscribe to Ed1Stop, which is a web portal including many subcription based services  such as Discovery Education Streaming, Grolier Online, Brain Pop and much more.

Titles and resources located in the library can be found by using our L4U catalogue. Take note of the location field to see where the books would be on the shelves, either in the BHDS collection, or in the Lefferts collection (in the adjacent Lefferts Library at the JCC- open to the public on Sundays from 10:00 A.M-1:00 P.M).
