We had a great basketball season and all of our BHDS teams played with such heart. Three of our teams made the playoffs and played with true grit and determination. Both the 5/6 and 7/8 girls team played valiently in the first round of the playoffs but fell to tough opponents. The 7/8 boys team defeated Marin Horizons in the first round, and narrowly lost to a tough Ross team by 5 points in the championship. As a coach, I could not be more proud of my players and am honored to have been able to coach all of these hard working players. Read on for details about each game...

Our BHDS Lions faced off in four games last week. This season is proving to be an exciting one on the court! Tuesday, the girls' teams (varsity and junior varsity) took on Marin Primary. In a tightly contested game, BHDS came out on top 22-20. It was another come from behind victory and once again team defense was the star. Jazea S.(7 pts.), Isabel G.(6 pts.), and Julia S.(5 pts.) led the team on offense. The JV girls' game was another great game; the team took home their first win with a final score of 18-14. They were led by Cali K. with 8 points and Sadie A. with 4 points. Zoe B. and Eva B. were rebounding machines and played great defense.

Thursday, the BHDS boys' teams (varsity and junior varsity) traveled to Marin Country Day School. The varsity boys' team took an early lead and never relinquished it. Final score: 46-42. Ben K. (11 pts.) and Max A.(10 pts.) led the way. Ben S. played incredible defense to help keep MCDS at bay. The JV boys played their hearts out. Despite missing a few players, and losing another to injury during the game, the team did not lose their determination. They played the rest of the game with 4 players and no subs. I can’t express how proud I was of them. They took the loss but gained respect for a great effort.

There were 3 exciting games last week! All 3 teams - varsity boys, junior varsity boys, and varsity girls - took on Ring Mountain Day School. The varsity boys played the first game. They came out firing and quickly build a lead. It was a true team effort with every BHDS player scoring and having an assist. I was most impressed with the unselfish play of my players; I could not have been more proud. The JV boys played an extremely entertaining game, with the first half ending locked in a 22-22 tie. Ring Mountain pulled ahead before BHDS managed to get within 3. BHDS almost had a potential steal with a chance to tie the game. In the end, BHDS fell 42-39. Game 3 featured our varsity girls team. Ring Mountain took an early lead and held it most of the game. With 4 minutes to go, BHDS took their first lead and never looked back! The Lions varsity girls team defeated Ring Mountain.
