BHDS Does Hanukkah!

Hanukkah has arrived at BHDS this week - starting with the sounds of the holiday rendered by our very own BHDS band and shows by Seattle puppeteer duo The Sababas and the talented University of Chicago a cappella group Rhythm and Jews. The aroma of latkes wafted through the halls; families shared their treasured hanukkiyot; and, of course, Stephanie Lauter martyred herself yet again by frying hundreds of sufganyot. Second graders, meanwhile, learned from an expert how to press enough olive oil to keep a hanukkiyah burning for eight nights and fry those jelly doughnuts.
