Social Studies
Through our social studies curriculum, our students explore the world around them and gain an understanding of their relation to it. Students learn how necessary it is for people and groups to work together to resolve problems in a spirit of cooperation. As they study the collective ideas of theircommunity, their family, their school, city, state, and country, our students develop a deep appreciation of the cultural diversity that surrounds them. Social studies is not a passive affair at BHDS — children learn about history, anthropology, geography, current events, and others’ values, customs, and ways of life through lively debate, historical re-enactments, and other creative projects. With an understanding of ourselves, of our own society, and or other contemporary and ancient cultures, we are better prepared for daily life now and in the future.
