Physical Education

The physical education program at Brandeis Hillel Day School is designed to encourage students to be physically active and healthy throughout their lifetimes and to learn basic athletic and motor skills. All physical education classes are designed and taught by physical education/kinesiology specialists. The physical education units are designed in a grade-level-appropriate developmental progression.

At the kindergarten through second grade levels, students learn basic locomotor skills through a variety of individual movement patterns and cooperative games and activities. Also, individual skills that are used in many popular games are introduced at this level. The benefits of healthy lifestyle through exercise are also introduced at these grade levels. The students learn the names of muscle groups and what these muscles do. The importance of sportsmanship, fair play, and pro-social behaviors are consistently reinforced.
