Kindergarten

Children applying to kindergarten at Brandeis Hillel Day School for the 2008-2009 school year must be at least five years old by September 30, 2008.

Selecting a school for your child and your family is an important decision. To get a real sense of a school, you should have an opportunity to interact with administration, faculty, and parents in a variety of settings. During our process, we hope to give you an opportunity to become well acquainted with our school and the many benefits of a Brandeis Hillel Day School education. To make the most of this experience, we recommend that you do the following:

  • Schedule a tour. During our tours, you will be able to see a snapshot of the daily life that your child might experience at Brandeis Hillel Day School. We require that all families tour the school before their applications will be processed. We are happy to make accommodations for those relocating to the Bay Area.
  • Attend our Kindergarten Open House. In addition to an in-depth look at the kindergarten curriculum, you will have an opportunity to meet school administrators, parents, and alumni.
  • Join us for coffee. Held in the homes of BHDS’ parents, coffees offer an opportunity to meet with school administration on a more intimate basis.

We consider getting to know each applicant and their parents an integral part of our application process. After you have submitted your application, please contact the Admissions Office to schedule a parent interview.

Kindergarten applicants will be invited to visit the school in small groups during January and February. During these visits, the students will participate in group activities as well as one-on-one time with our teachers as we assess students for kindergarten readiness.

Please remember that all applications, accompanied by the application fee of $75, should be returned to the school office no later than January 15, 2008 for those applying for admission the following September. For San Francisco sibling families, the application deadline is Monday, December 3, 2007. Space is limited, so you are encouraged to apply early. Late applications will only be considered on a space-available basis. All applicants need to have an evaluation/recommendation form completed by their current teacher(s).

Important!

In cooperation with other Bay Area independent K-8 schools, admission notifications are mailed on March 12, 2008.
