Active Participation

We encourage parents, grandparents, and special friends to play an active part in our students’ education by volunteering in the classroom, participating in holiday or community celebrations, attending school events, joining a Parent Association committee, or serving as a class captain for the Annual Campaign. Our hope is that all of you will find a way to participate and discover how involvement can enhance your family’s school experience. Volunteering opens doors to lifelong friendships, enhances your personal experience, and immeasurably enriches the community. No matter how much time you can give, please know that your participation will truly make a difference.

The Parent Association (PA)

The Parent Association is dedicated to supporting the mission of BHDS through its partnership with the administration, faculty, trustees, parents, and students. The purpose of the PA is to foster a sense of community and to provide a forum for communication. Every parent belongs to the PA and is invited to attend meetings. Event Volunteer

Each year our community joins together in a fundraising event that supports the Annual Fund and extends our financial support of our program. Every other year we rotate between a gala-type event and a golf tournament. An online auction is an integral part of both of these events and helps support the event with critical income.   • BHDS Honors Outstanding Volunteers with Or Hadash (New Light) Award

    We are delighted to announce that Louella Neyman (SF Campus) and Cheryl Lazar (Marin Campus) are the recipients of our Or Hadash (New Light) award this year! This Parent Association award is presented annually by the BHDS Board of Trustees to outstanding parents on each campus who give freely and generously of their time to the school community and serve as models of volunteerism, and Louella and Cheryl couldn't embody those values more!

  • Meet Our Annual Fund Team—Nicole Wilkes!

    Nicole Wilkes is the parent of a third grader on the Marin Campus. Nicole has volunteered selling B-Wear for the last two years, is a regular driver on field trips, and has also spent a lot of time in the art studio in years past. She is an officer of the Marin Parent Association . . .

  • Meet Our Annual Fund Team—Rebecca Eisenberg!

    Rebecca Eisenberg is a BHDS parent of two children on the San Francisco campus and serves as a volunteer on the Annual Fund and Marketing committees. Previous roles have included serving as coordinator for Kindergarten Buddy Families and volunteering for the Annual Gala and upcoming Golf Tournament. In her own words . . .
